Frequently asked questions

What families ask us

If your question is not here, write to us and we will answer it directly.

01About Community Wellness Group

Are you part of the government?

No. We are a private, independent company. We are not a government agency, an insurance company or a medical center. We guide families and connect them with providers and centers in the area.

Do you provide the services directly?

Not necessarily all of them. Our role is to guide, coordinate and connect the person with the provider or center that fits their needs and their coverage.

What does it cost to talk to you?

The guidance is at no cost to you. You can write to us, talk, and get an explanation of what options exist without paying anything.

Do you serve English speakers?

Our main language of service is Spanish. This site is also available in English and we can handle inquiries in English. If you need service in another language, write to us and we will tell you whether we can help.

02About the services

Is an adult day center the same as a nursing home?

No. At a day center the person attends during the day and comes home to sleep. They do not move out and they do not leave their home. A nursing home or residence is a place where the person lives permanently.

What is the difference between Home Health and Home Care?

Home Health means clinical services at home, such as nursing and therapies, and it requires a physician order. Home Care focuses on personal assistance and daily activities, such as company, meal preparation, or help with bathing and dressing.

Is medical transportation an ambulance?

No. Non emergency medical transportation takes the person to appointments and health services on a scheduled basis, in vehicles that may be adapted for limited mobility or wheelchair use. For an emergency you have to call 911.

Does my parent have to be 55 for you to help them?

We mainly guide people aged 55 and over and their families. Each service also has its own requirements, which depend on the program and the provider. If you have questions, write to us and we will look into it.

03About coverage and requirements

How do I know if my mom qualifies?

We make a preliminary assessment and explain what is usually required in each case. Eligibility and final coverage are always determined by the plan, the program or the authorized provider, not by us.

What if it turns out they do not qualify for anything?

We tell you right away, in the same conversation. And when possible, we point you to where else you can ask. We would rather do that than leave you waiting for an answer that is not coming.

Do I need to have Medicare or Medi-Cal?

It depends on the service. Some programs depend on the coverage the person has and others work differently. In the first conversation we ask what coverage they have so we can guide you better.

I live outside Los Angeles and San Bernardino, can you help me?

We work in those two counties. If you live outside them, write to us anyway: if we cannot help you we will say so right away and, when possible, point you to where to ask.

04About your data and the first contact

What do you do with my data?

We use it to contact you, understand your situation and, with your permission, send your case to the right provider. We do not sell it. You can review the full detail in our privacy policy and ask us to delete it whenever you want.

Are you going to ask about my immigration status?

No. We will never ask you for immigration information or your social security number. If someone claims to represent us and asks for it, do not give them anything and let us know.

Do I have to decide something on the first call?

No. The first conversation is to understand the situation and explain what exists. You decide afterward, calmly, and nothing moves forward without your authorization.

How long does it take you to reply?

We reply within our business hours, as soon as we can. If you write outside those hours, we get back to you the next business day.

Still have a question

Write to us and we will answer it. You do not need to know which service to ask for in order to ask.

We are a private, independent company. We are not a government agency and we are not an insurance company.
