It is not a nursing home. It is a day center.
Your mom or your dad spends the day with company, meals and activities, and comes home to sleep in the afternoon. They do not move out. They do not leave their home.
What it is
An adult day center is a place the person attends during the day and returns home from. They do not live there. It is day time care and companionship.
In several programs they are picked up in the morning and brought back in the afternoon. During the day there is company, food and activities, and depending on the program there may be nursing and therapies.
It is known as Adult Day Care or, when it includes health services, Adult Day Health Care (ADHC).

Who it is usually considered for
- People aged 55 and over who spend many hours alone at home.
- Families where the person who provides care works during the day.
- People who need supervision, but not a residential facility.
- People who have become isolated and go out less and less.
What is worth knowing
- It is not a nursing home or a residence. The person sleeps at home.
- Transportation, nursing and therapies depend on the program and on each person coverage.
- Available services vary from one center to another and from one county to another.
Eligibility and final coverage are determined by the plan, the program or the authorized provider, never by Community Wellness Group.
