When staying at home is no longer the best option

We help you find homes and residences where your mom or your dad can live with daily care, meals and company. We do not run them: we explain what exists and we connect you.

What it is

Room and board, also known as board and care, is a home or a residence where the person lives: they have their own room, they get their meals, and there is staff on site for day to day care.

It is not the same as an adult day center. Here the person does move in and lives there. If what you want is for them to spend the day with company and come home to sleep, that is the day center.

In California these places need a state license. Community Wellness Group does not run or manage them: we explain what options exist and we connect you with the ones that fit your case.

What it usually includes

Everyday life

  • A room and meals
  • Help with bathing, dressing and moving around
  • Medication supervision
  • Staff on site day and night
  • Company and activities

What changes from one place to another

  • Private or shared room
  • Level of care for dementia or limited mobility
  • Nursing on site or by visit
  • Transportation to appointments
  • The cost and what part each program covers

Who it is usually considered for

  • People who can no longer live alone without risk.
  • Families where care at home is no longer enough, by hours or by health.
  • People who need help every day with bathing, dressing or moving around.
  • People who have fallen more than once while alone at home.
  • Families who live far away and cannot be there every day.

What is worth knowing

  • The person lives there. It is not an adult day center and it is not home health care.
  • Community Wellness Group does not run or manage these homes. We explain the options and we connect you.
  • The cost and what covers it depend on the place, the program and each person plan. Not all of them accept the same coverage.
  • It is worth visiting the place before deciding and asking about its state license.

Eligibility and final coverage are determined by the plan, the program or the authorized provider, never by Community Wellness Group.

Not sure which one your family needs

That is completely normal. Write to us, tell us the situation, and we will tell you what options exist for your case. And also which ones do not apply.
