What it is

Non emergency medical transportation, known as NEMT, takes the person to appointments and health services on a scheduled basis.

It is not necessarily an ambulance. It can include vehicles adapted for older adults, for wheelchair users or for people with limited mobility.

It is a planned ride with assistance. If the situation is an emergency, you call 911.
